“When I was….. um,”. Lets just say last year, 2014, was a very good year. It was a very good year for new beginnings. We had a few.
Our little baby Cocoa
More Hippie Chicks
Our newest member to the family. Grandson Travis
Guinea Hens! (very noisy guinea hens!)
The 3 Stooges….Alpacas!! Moe, Curly and Larry….yuck, yuck, yuck!
Beaks. Our little lost Parakeet
She found a permanent home and a new friend, Blue. Beak and Blue.
Last but not least.
Mo. Mr. Molashes
When I was ……. ah… It was a very good year. It was a very good year for new friends and old.
The Bunkhouse opened it’s doors to our first guests. Mo’Riches Bridget
and our hubs….Cheers to new friends!
and more guests who soon became friends.
Facebook friends that came to visit
and friends that I hadn’t seen since elementary school.
very best friends.
It was a very good year. It was a very good year for Family.
Me and my sisters.
Let me just say this here… there is nothing like a sister. I love them dearly and I could never imagine a life without them. They are everything (They KNOW everything!!!!! and still love you).
My mom. She made me who I am. Yes, I blame it all on her!!
My family from Germany even came for a visit
Dutch made a new friend too and wouldn’t leave his side.
Then I was…..Okay…54!!! Happy now?? I’m 54…..Jeesh…get over it already!!
When I was 54, it was a very good year. It was a good year for
Dutch entering the ring and becoming a Champion! Go Dutch!!
Is he not so handsome?
and then there is this guy…handsome even with his mouth guard hanging out. Our son Kris became a Lacrosse player. Not a sport for the faint of heart. It is brutal and he came home with bloody noses and black eyes. Just in time for his Sr. Prom.
It was ok though. His date plays soccer and she had a matching black eye. They were quite the pair.
Seriously…I can’t make this stuff up!!
It was a year for our first ever Swiss Stock.
Swissy’s came from far and wide
3 generations of Swissy’s. Dutch with his mom and grand mom.
Dutch learned to pull a cart.
and everyone wanted to bring home a puppy.
We had Wildman Steve Brill come and host a foraging class
He showed us things that were bad for our farm family and things that were good for them. The goatee girls really enjoyed his visit.
We started a roadside stand business
and hosted an Open House
When I was…..(are you really gonna make me say it again?) 54!!! When I was 54… It was a very good year. It was a good year for the 4 seasons.
They came and went ~ way too fast.
Spring. New beginning. Fresh start. Clean slate.
The garden begins
The farm family is content.
The Hippie Chicks start laying again.
Life is good.
Then came summer.
The garden flourished
My herbs rocked the scene
I started drying
and soaping…always soaping.
We opened the pool.
Our youngest joined the National guard and left for boot camp.
I baked pies to keep busy so I wouldn’t miss him. (it didn’t work)
I made lots of cheese. That didn’t help either.
Our gardens went crazy
I made pickles.
Jams and Jellies
Dilly Beans! Salsa, Pickled everything!!
I had a great garlic harvest.
Our grandson got so big!
Both of them.
Our granddaughter played soccer.
and came for a week at Camp Mimi. She learned to felt soap
and make cupcakes
Help with the farm family
and gather flowers.
Then fall sound asleep after a hard days work.
But now the days grow short, I’m in the autumn of the year…
Time for fairs
apples and peaches
grapes and grapevines
And now I think of my life as vintage wine from fine old kegs
From the brim to the dregs and it poured sweet and clear.
Then Christmas was here
Family came together for life long traditions
Friends came together for new traditions
the stockings were hung
the table was set
our son came home
and then we said good-bye
It was a very good year
it was a mess of good years.
when I was 54.
